With five hugely successful CicLAvias under our belt, we are currently preparing for the next round of CicLAvia events in 2013: CicLAvia - To the Sea on April 21; CicLAvia - Iconic Wilshire Boulevard on June 23; and CicLAvia - Heart of LAon October 6.

CicLAvia makes the streets safe for people to walk, skate, play and ride a bike. There are activities along the route. Shop owners and restaurants are encouraged to open their doors to people along the CicLAvia.

Ciclovías started in Bogotá, Colombia, over thirty years ago as a response to the congestion and pollution of city streets. Now they happen throughout Latin America and the United States.
Connecting communities and giving people a break from the stress of car traffic. The health benefits are immense. Ciclovías bring families outside of their homes to enjoy the streets, our largest public space. In Los Angeles we need CicLAvia more than ever. Our streets are congested with traffic, our air is polluted with toxic fumes, our children suffer from obesity and other health conditions caused by the scarcity of public space and safe, healthy transportation options. CicLAvia creates a temporary park for free, simply by removing cars from city streets. • Venice Ale House 2 Rose Ave, American gastropub on the beach. Organic food, fun new beers & kombucha on tap.

• Jin Patisserie 1202 Abbot Kinney, for desserts, bakeries, teas and coffee in a japanese garden. Even though she extended her menu with yummy sandwiches, her popular item is the macaroon.

Thursday Bike Day in Venice Beach CA

A great way to discover the main Los Angeles Beaches is certainly riding along the bike path on the beach. Our first recommendation would be : Start from the Venice Pier (Washington Blvd) and discover the Venice Boardwalk, pass under the Santa Monica Pier and enjoy the view till Will Rogers State Beach. A classic and always great!

Second recommendation : start from the studio on Ocean and ride onto Mildred Ave (Kim's Market). At the end of Mildred go straight crossing Washington and follow the bike path of Marina Del Rey. You can discover the Fisherman Village (and have lunch), speed a bit through Playa Del Ray and prepare your camera for the gorgeous houses of Manhattan Beach (seen in Beverly Hills 90210).

Don't forget your sunblock!
And some water...
